From the Long Sault Conservation Area parking lot turn left on the trail which takes you to an intersection where you turn right onto the Barred Owl Trail. The trail brings you to a clearing with a large map display and a bench (002).

The trail now heads off to the left continuing to follow the Barred Owl Trail. The trail returns to the connecting trail  (003).

Turn right and head uphill on the connecting trail until you arrive at the Wild Turkey Trail (004).

Turn right onto the Wild Turkey Trail which takes you to the top of the loop (005).

Turn right and continue on the Wild Turkey trail. At a T-intersection keep left on the Wild Turkey Trail. There is a rest stop bench along this trail where you may have lunch. Soon you will arrive at an intersection with the Eastern Bluebird Trail (006).

The Eastern Bluebird Trail heads off to the right. After a hill climb and a right turn we come to a T-intersection where the trail goes off to the left. The trail wanders along a high ridge between a ravine on either side. Turning left the trail enters a more open meadow with a coniferous forest ahead with the trail continuing along a narrow sandy trail. Crossing a low muddy area, the trail crosses a private driveway and continues into a meadow where some poison ivy is evident trailside. Past this point, the trail curves left, passes the quarry and begins to climb left into the forest ahead. Soon you arrive back at the connecting trail (007) at the end of the Eastern Bluebird Trail.

Turn right on the connecting trail which takes you back close to the parking lot and continue on the connecting trail until you arrive at the Cottontail Rabbitt Trail (008).

Keep right on the Cottontail Rabbitt Trail. Note the trails are marked one-way for hikers from this point on. Turn left and continue on to the new connecting trails (009).

Turn right on the connecting trail heading towards the White-tailed Deer Trail (010).

Turn right onto the White-tailed Deer Trail. The trail follows a long laneway path between wet forest growth on both sides until it comes out to an open meadow where it meets the transmission towers above and curves left. At the bottom of the loop keep left on the White-tailed Deer Trail. The trail enters a low wet area and climbs into a drier area of coniferous trees with mysterious oak leaves on the forest floor. The trail arrives at an intersection with the connecting trail (012).

Continue straight ahead on the White-tailed Deer Trail .  The trail curves left and returns to waypoint (012) where it meets the connecting trail once more.

Turn right and follow the connecting trail back to (010).

Turn right once more and follow the connecting trail back to waypoint (009).

Turn right on the Cottontail Rabbitt Trail back to (008).

Turn right on the connecting trail back to the parking lot (001).

For Road Map Directions, Search & Print

Click on the green hiker icon on the road map for directions, nearby search and more.

To print out a Google Road Map, there are two methods:
Method A
) 1) Viewing the road map, click on the green hiker icon 2) In the window, click on Directions, 3) Click on the printer icon under the Google logo, 4) Click on the blue "Print" button and click Ok.
Method B) Use a screen capture program like Faststone Capture 5.3. A free safe version of Faststone Capture is available here. Select the 1380 kb version. Download and click file to install. Set output to printer and use dotted rectangle to draw an outline around the map to be printed. Then select "Print". Done. Very handy for lots of things. Can also be installed in Win 7 in XP mode.
For Macintosh computers, press Command-Shift-4.  A cross-hair cursor will appear and you can click and drag to select the area you wish to capture. When you release the mouse button, the screen shot will be automatically saved as a PNG file on your desktop. (The file is saved as PDF in Mac OS 10.3 and earlier.) Then print out this file.
