EVENT DETAILS
Join us for this early-fall walk as we follow paved trails through Colonel Danforth Park along Highland Creek from Old Kingston Road in Scarborough to Lake Ontario and then along the bluffs and shore of Lake Ontario to East Point Park.
This is basically a linear walk with a few loops. The descent down the bluffs to the shore is relatively easy after the first few metres. We will go at a moderate pace and take small breaks about once an hour.
Length: 11.7 Km [Add 1 km if walking from TTC bus stop on Military Trail.]

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Beginner – All walking/hiking levels welcome!

WHAT TO BRING: Water (at least 1 L), lunch, snacks, appropriate clothing and footwear, hat, camera, cellphone, cash for bus fare and/or donation to TorontoHiking, driving directions, enthusiasm.

POST-EVENT: Those willing to head to a nearby pub or restaurant for a drink and/or a bite to eat will have an option to do so. Venue to be determined. This will depend mainly on the number of people interested, and availability of drivers and cars for carpooling to and from the venue.

WEATHER POLICY: In the event of harsh weather, this hike will be cancelled. The hike leader will monitor the weather forecast and notify all registered members at least 24 hours in advance to confirm or cancel the event.

TOTAL HIKING TIME: 4-5 hours hiking including lunch and stops, depending on overall group pace.

TIMELINE
Travel to the Highland Creek parking lot by car or public transit and meet our group there NO LATER than 10:15 AM. You will read and sign a waiver form. The hike will start promptly at 10:30 AM
Note: If using public transit, you will have to walk about 500 m. to the parking lot. Please, allow yourself 10-15 min. extra time.

GETTING THERE
Highland Creek Parking Lot: 184 OLD Kingston Road, Scarborough, ON

- TTC Directions: From the Scarborough Centre TTC Station, take Bus #38 Highland Creek Eastbound. Exit bus at OLD Kingston Rd and Military Trail; head east on Military Trail toward OLD Kingston Rd; turn right onto OLD Kingston Rd and walk about 400 mt. The parking lot will be on your right.
