The Site: Chedoke Falls Trail
The Chedoke Radial Trail follows the route of an old railway line that operated from 1908 to 1931.
The Iroquoia Heights Side Trail is a 1.1 km trail that follows the route of an old radial railway line. It makes a nice 2.8 km loop.
The Scenic Drive Side Trail leaves the Bruce Trail at (006) providing an alternate route at the top of the escarpment with the Bruce Trail below the escarpment. It is 2.3 km long and descends a long set of metal steps to join the main Bruce Trail below at (003). It makes a 4.5 km loop with the main trail.
Perhaps the hike name is a bit deceiving as this hike never takes you to where you can see Chedoke Falls -mainly because the falls is very inaccessible and the trail to it very rugged and dangerous. However we do get to see Lower Chedoke Falls so we do see a "Chedoke Falls." Nevetheless I enjoyed this hike along the Hamilton section of the escarpment. There are some great views out over the harbour and some interesting trails to follow with some surprises along the way. The first part of the hike has you along the bottom of the escarpment with the return along the top. A long set of metal steps takes you back down the escarpment eventually.
