TRAIL GUIDE

001 - 002 | 1.9 kmFrom the Long Sault Conservation Area parking lot turn left on the trail which takes you to an intersection where you turn right onto the Barred Owl Trail. The trail brings you to a clearing with a large map display and a bench (002).

002 - 003 3.0 kmThe trail now heads off to the left continuing to follow the Barred Owl Trail. The trail returns to the connecting trail  (003).

003 - 004 | 3.2Turn right and head uphill on the connecting trail until you arrive at the Wild Turkey Trail (004).

004 - 005 | 4.4 kmTurn right onto the Wild Turkey Trail which takes you to the top of the loop (005).

005 - 006 | 6.8 kmTurn right and continue on the Wild Turkey trail. At a T-intersection keep left on the Wild Turkey Trail. There is a rest stop bench along this trail where you may have lunch. Soon you will arrive at an intersection with the Eastern Bluebird Trail (006).

006 - 007 | 9.5kmThe Eastern Bluebird Trail heads off to the right. After a hill climb and a right turn we come to a T-intersection where the trail goes off to the left. The trail wanders along a high ridge between a ravine on either side. Turning left the trail enters a more open meadow with a coniferous forest ahead with the trail continuing along a narrow sandy trail. Crossing a low muddy area, the trail crosses a private driveway and continues into a meadow where some poison ivy is evident trail-side. Past this point, the trail curves left, passes the quarry and begins to climb left into the forest ahead. Soon you arrive back at the connecting trail (007) at the end of the Eastern Bluebird Trail.

007 - 008 | km10.0 kmTurn right on the connecting trail which takes you back close to the parking lot and continue on the connecting trail until you arrive at the Cottontail Rabbit Trail (008). 008 - 00910.8Keep right on the Cottontail Rabbit Trail. Note the trails are marked one-way for hikers from this point on. Turn left and continue on to the new connecting trails (009).

009 - 010 | 11.4 kmTurn right on the connecting trail heading towards the White-tailed Deer Trail (010).

010 - 012 | 14.8 kmTurn right onto the White-tailed Deer Trail. The trail follows a long lane-way path between wet forest growth on both sides until it comes out to an open meadow where it meets the transmission towers above and curves left. At the bottom of the loop keep left on the White-tailed Deer Trail. The trail enters a low wet area and climbs into a drier area of coniferous trees with mysterious oak leaves on the forest floor. The trail arrives at an intersection with the connecting trail (012).

012 - 011 | 15.3 kmContinue straight ahead on the White-tailed Deer Trail .  The trail curves left and returns to waypoint (012) where it meets the connecting trail once more.

011 - 010 | 15.7 kmTurn right and follow the connecting trail back to (010).

010 - 009 | 16.4 kmTurn right once more and follow the connecting trail back to waypoint (009).

009 - 008 | 17.8 kmTurn right on the Cottontail Rabbit Trail back to (008).

008 - 001 | 18.0 kmTurn right on the connecting trail back to the parking lot (001).
